Effect of high pressure on Biginelli reactions. Steric hindrance and mechanistic considerations
Jenner, Gérard
, p. 6195 - 6198 (2004)
The effect of high pressure is examined in 3-CC Biginelli reactions. This effect is small when moderately hindered aldehydes or ureas are involved. However, particularly in the case of bulky aldehydes, the sensitivity of the reaction to pressure increases with increasing steric congestion in line with earlier studies described in the reference list. The results also provide insights into the mechanism. Such a result highlights the synthetic utility of high pressure activation for the preparation of hindered Biginelli products.

Wang, Jinying,Li, Ningbo,Qiu, Renhua,Zhang, Xiaohong,Xu, Xinhua,Yin, Shuang-Feng
, p. 61 - 67 (2015/03/30)
Zirconocene bis(perfluorobutanesulfonate) is air- and water-stable and proved to be ionic on basis of conductivity measurements. It exhibits high catalytic efficiency for the synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds under solvent-free condition, such as benzimidazoles, benzodiazepines, dihydropyrimidinones and dihydropyridines under mild condition. Furthermore, it can be reused without loss of activity in a test of five cycles. This catalytic system affords a simple and efficient approach for the synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds.
