supporting information, p. 11915 - 11925 (2021/09/13)
Modification of commercially available biaryl monophosphine ligands via ruthenium(II)-catalyzed P(III)-directed-catalyzed ortho C-H secondary alkylation is described. The use of highly ring-strained norbornene as a secondary alkylating reagent is the key to this transformation. A series of highly bulky ligands with a norbornyl group were obtained in excellent yields. The modified ligands with secondary alkyl group outperformed common substituted phosphines in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction at a ppm mole level of Pd catalyst.

, (2021/07/31)
Abstract: A heterogeneous single-site catalyst Pd@MOF-808 was successfully synthesized by water-based, green synthesis procedure. The catalytic experiments exhibited the Pd@MOF-808 promoted efficiently the Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction without the assistance of organic phosphine ligands at atmospheric pressure conditions. The catalyst also could be applied in the gram-scale synthesis of industrially anti-inflanmatory analgestic Fenbufen. Graphic Abstract: [Figure not available: see fulltext.]

, p. 254 - 258 (2020/01/25)
A series of Pd(II)-enaminone complexes, termed Pd(eao)2, have been synthesized and characterized. The investigation on the catalytic activities of these new Pd(II)-reagents has proved that the Pd(eao)2-1 possesses excellent catalytic activity for the Suzuki- Miyaura cross coupling reactions of aryl bromides/chlorides with aryl/vinyl boronic acids in the environmentally benign media of aqueous PEG400 at low loading (5 mol‰). The superiority of this Pd(II)-reagent to those commercial Pd(II) and Pd(0) catalysts in catalyzing the reactions has been confirmed by parallel experiments. What's more, Pd(eao)2-2 has been found as a practical catalyst for the homo-coupling reactions of aryl boronic acids.

A highly active cobalt catalyst system has been developed for the cross-coupling reactions of arylmagnesium reagents and aryl bromides. In the presence of 1 mol% CoCl 2, 2 mol% IPr·HCl and 2 mol% NaO t Bu, a wide range of (hetero)biaryls are prepared in 51-99% yields at room temperature within a short reaction time.

Enantioselective hydrogenation of furans and benzofurans remains a challenging task. We report the hydrogenation of 2- and 3-substituted furans by using iridium catalysts that bear bicyclic pyridine-phosphinite ligands. Excellent enantioselectivities and high conversions were obtained for monosubstituted furans with a 3-alkyl or 3-aryl group. Furans substituted at the 2-position and 2,4-disubstituted furans proved to be more difficult substrates. The best results (80-97% conversion, 65-82% enantiomeric excess) were obtained with monosubstituted 2-alkylfurans and 2-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]furan. Benzofurans with an alkyl substituent at the 2- or 3-position also gave high conversions and enantioselectivity, whereas 2-aryl derivatives showed essentially no reactivity. The asymmetric hydrogenation of a 3-methylbenzofuran derivative was used as a key step in the formal total synthesis of the cytotoxic naphthoquinone natural product (-)-thespesone.
Diaminophosphine oxides as preligands for Ni-catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reactions of aryl chlorides with arylboronic acids
Hu, Feng,Kumpati, Blessy N.,Lei, Xiangyang
supporting information, p. 7215 - 7218 (2015/01/09)
The first investigation of air- and moisture-stable diaminophosphine oxides as preligands in the Ni-catalyzed Suzuki cross-coupling reactions of aryl chlorides with arylboronic acids has been reported. The results show that under the optimized reaction conditions, the new catalytic system with a Ni(II) σ-aryl complex as precatalyst and a diaminophosphine oxide as preligand tolerates a variety of functional groups and is efficient for both electron-rich and electron-deficient aryl chlorides, though it shows higher efficiency for activated arylboronic acids than deactivated ones. Steric effects were observed for both aryl chlorides and arylboronic acids.

supporting information, p. 3950 - 3953 (2013/09/02)
The nickel-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura coupling of aryl halides and phenol-derived substrates with aryl boronic acids using green solvents, such as 2-Me-THF and tert-amyl alcohol, is reported. This methodology employs the commercially available and air-stable precatalyst, NiCl2(PCy 3)2, and gives biaryl products in synthetically useful to excellent yields. Using this protocol, bis(heterocyclic) frameworks can be assembled efficiently.
Scope of the two-step, one-pot palladium-catalyzed borylation/Suzuki cross-coupling reaction utilizing bis-boronic acid
Molander, Gary A.,Trice, Sarah L. J.,Kennedy, Steven M.
, p. 8678 - 8688 (2012/11/07)
The use of bis-boronic acid for the direct synthesis of boronic acids has greatly facilitated the two-step, one-pot borylation/Suzuki cross-coupling reaction between aryl and heteroaryl halides. With use of Buchwald's second-generation XPhos preformed catalyst, high yields of cross-coupled products were obtained for most substrates. The method also allows an efficient two-step, one-pot synthesis, providing access to three distinct cross-coupled products after column chromatography. The method also provides a rapid and convenient route to teraryl compounds.
