The cis-diaminediacidoplatinum(II) complexes PtL2(SCN)2 (L = NH3, en/2) react with PtL1L2Cl2 (L1, L2 = NH3, en/2, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), diethyl sulfide) to produce cationic binuclear complexes in which the platinum atoms are bridged by two thiocyanate ligands. Convenient methods of analysis of binuclear complexes for SCN, Cl, and Pt were developed based on preliminary destruction of the bridges by ethylenediamine and thiourea.
