New CCl3- and CF3-substituted enones, bearing additional hidden hydroxymethyl functions, were prepared by acylation of 4-methylene 1,3-dioxolanes. The synthesized enones are interesting building blocks for agrochemical and medicinal chemistry research. The reactivity of synthesized enones with various amines was studied, and enaminones 13 and 14 were obtained under NH3 interaction; the reaction with aliphatic primary amines afforded enaminones 17 in high yields as equilibrium mixtures of E and Z isomers. The reaction of fluorinated enone 9c with anilines afforded a mixture of products, including non-aromatic heterocyclic compounds 25 and 26 bearing the CF3 group as well as furan 27 with CF3 and amino functions at positions 5 and 3, respectively. The hydrolysis of enone 9c afforded cyclic compound 11.

New benz[b]pyranes and pyranopyridines of formula I, STR1 wherein the significances of substituents V, T, W, R3 to R5, R9, R10, m, X, Y and Z are given in claim 1 and their N-oxides and their salts and their use in the treatment of raised blood pressure in the treatment of vascular disorders and other disorders in which a reduction in tension of the smooth muscles is therapeutically useful, as well as in the treatment of hair loss and baldness. Further the compounds are useful in the treatment of asthma and obstructive disorders of the respiratory system as well as in the prophylactic treatment of obstructive or inflammatory airways disease, for example asthma, as well as novel pharmaceutical compositions comprising said K+ channel activators suitable for such use.

A series of substituted 4-aminobut-2-enolide derivatives have been synthesized by reaction of a variety of substituted amines with methyl tetronate.The (1)H and (13)C nmr spectral analysis of all compounds synthesized are given.
