-
Paragraph 0240, (2016/10/08)
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal compound that satisfies at least one of demands for physical properties such as a high clear point, large dielectric anisotropy, and excellent compatibility with other liquid crystal compounds, a liquid crystal composition containing the above compound, and a liquid crystal display element. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal compound is represented by Formula (1). In Formula (1), R1 and R2 represent an alkyl having 1 to 15 carbon atoms, in which at least one -CH2- can be replaced by -O-, -CH=CH-, or the like; ring A1 to ring A3 represent 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene, or the like, in which at least one of ring A1, ring A2, and ring A3 is represented by Formula (A); Z1, Z2, Z3 represent a single bond, -(CH2)2-, or the like; a to c represent 0 or 1 and satisfy 1≤a+b+c≤3. In Formula (A), X1 and X2 represent H or a halogen. SELECTED DRAWING: None COPYRIGHT: (C)2016,JPO&INPIT

Paragraph 0239, (2016/03/11)
A liquid-crystal compound satisfying at least one physical property such as a high clearing point, large dielectric anisotropy and excellent compatibility with other liquid-crystal compounds is described; a liquid-crystal composition containing the compound; and a liquid-crystal display device. The compound is represented by formula (1): wherein, R1 and R2 are independently alkyl having 1 to 15 carbons, and in the alkyl, at least one —CH2— may be replaced by —O—, —CH═CH— or the like; ring A1, ring A2 and ring A3 are independently 1,4-cyclohexylene, 1,4-phenylene or the like, and at least one ring A1, ring A2 or ring A3 is represented by formula (A): wherein, X1 and X2 are independently hydrogen or halogen; and Z1, Z2 and Z3 are independently a single bond, —(CH2)2— or the like; and a, b and c are independently 0 or 1, and a sum of a, b and c is 1, 2 or 3.
