Tetrahexyltin, also known as tetra-n-hexyltin, is an organotin compound with the chemical formula (C6H13)4Sn. It is a colorless, oily liquid that is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Tetrahexyltin is primarily used as a catalyst in the production of polyurethane foams and as a stabilizer in PVC plastics. It has also been used as a fungicide and a slimicide in industrial water systems. Due to its potential environmental and health risks, the use of tetrahexyltin has been restricted or banned in some countries.
