Usage

General Description

HCFC-222, or 1-chloro-1,1-difluoroethane, is a chemical compound that belongs to the hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) family. It is used as a refrigerant and as a solvent for cleaning and degreasing applications. HCFC-222 has a relatively high boiling point and low vapor pressure, making it suitable for use in refrigeration systems. However, due to its ozone-depleting potential, HCFC-222 is being phased out in favor of more environmentally friendly alternatives, such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and natural refrigerants like ammonia and carbon dioxide. Efforts are being made to reduce and eventually eliminate the production and use of HCFC-222 in order to protect the ozone layer and mitigate climate change.
