It is a cyclic siloxane compound, which is a type of organosilicon compound. 1,1,3,5,5-pentamethyltrisiloxane is widely used in various applications, such as a coupling agent in the production of silicone rubber, as a release agent in the manufacturing of polyurethane foams, and as a component in silicone-based lubricants and greases. Due to its stability, low toxicity, and resistance to hydrolysis, 1,1,3,5,5-pentamethyltrisiloxane is also employed as a reference material in gas chromatography.
