Method of preparing fluoroalkyl-containing organosilanes

Fluoroalkylsilanes of the general formula R'CH2 CH2 SiRn X3-n are prepared by reaction of an organohydrogensilane of the general formula Rn SiHX3-n with a fluoroolefin of the general formula R'CH=CH2, where R is an alkyl or aryl group, R' is a perfluoroalkyl group, X is a halogen atom or an alkoxy group and n is 0, 1 or 2 in the presence of a binary catalyst composed of a platinum compound and stannous chloride under relatively mild conditions of temperature and pressure, at a very high yield.
