Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 81977-58-4 includes 8 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 5 digits, 8,1,9,7 and 7 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 5 and 8 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 81977-58:
(7*8)+(6*1)+(5*9)+(4*7)+(3*7)+(2*5)+(1*8)=174
174 % 10 = 4
So 81977-58-4 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Allylic functionalization of unactivated olefins with grignard reagents

Bao, Hongli,Bayeh, Liela,Tambar, Uttam K.

supporting information, p. 1664 - 1668 (2014/03/21)

New advances in the functionalization of unactivated olefins with carbon nucleophiles have provided more efficient and practical approaches to convert inexpensive starting materials into valuable products. Recent examples have been reported with stabilized carbon nucleophiles, tethered carbon nucleophiles, diazoesters, and trifluoromethane donors. A general method for functionalizing olefins with aromatic, aliphatic, and vinyl Grignard reagents was developed. In a one-pot process, olefins are oxidized by a commercially available reagent to allylic electrophiles, which undergo selective copper-catalyzed allylic alkylation with Grignard reagents. Products are formed in high yield and with high regioselectivity. This was utilized to synthesize a series of skipped dienes, a class of compounds that are prevalent in natural products and are difficult to synthesize by known allylic alkylation methods. It all begins with olefins: Allylic functionalization with carbon nucleophiles is a powerful strategy for converting unactivated olefins into complex products. A general method for functionalizing olefins with aromatic, aliphatic, and vinyl Grignard reagents was developed. Molybdenum- and tungsten-catalyzed allylation of aromatic compounds with allylic esters and alcohols

Shimizu, Isao,Sakamoto, Toshiaki,Kawaragi, Saeko,Maruyama, Yooichiro,Yamamoto, Akio

, p. 137 - 138 (2007/10/03)

A novel method to substitute aromatic compounds with allylic groups using oxygen-containing allylic compounds in the presence of molybdenum or tungsten carbonyls under neutral conditions has been developed. The method is applicable to one step synthesis of methyl eugenol.

COMPLEXES OF TRANSITION METALS IN THE CHEMISTRY OF CONJUGATED SYSTEMS. III. REACTION OF DIENE HYDROCARBONS WITH ORGANOMAGNESIUM COMPOUNDS IN THE PRESENCE OF SALTS AND COMPLEXES OF TRANSITION METALS

Zubritskii, L. M.,Romashchenkova, N. D.,Petrov, A. A.

, p. 2157 - 2167 (2007/10/02)

The effect of the structure of the reagents and the nature of the catalyst on the direction and selectivity in the reaction of 1,3-dienes and their derivatives with aromatic Grignard reagents was investigated. It was shown that in the presence of salts and complexes of iron(III) 1,3-alkadienes R1CH=C(R2)C(R3)=CH2 react with arylmagnesium halides to form trans-(E)-1-aryl-1,3-alkadienes, whereas the sterically hindered (R2, R3=CH3) cyclic 1,3-alkadienes and also 1,2-alkadienes give mainly adducts (1:1).Catalysis by the phosphine complexes of nickel(II) leads to the formation of telomeric (2:1) (E)-1-aryl-2,7- and (E,E)-1-aryl-2,6-alkadienes.The results demonstrate the determining role of the stereochemical conditions for the coordination of the diene in the course of the reaction and also the significant contribution from the processes of one-electron reduction of the catalyst.
