2-methyl-7H-benzo[de]anthracen-7-one is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) with the molecular formula C19H14O. It is a derivative of benzo[a]anthracene, a well-known carcinogenic compound, and is characterized by the presence of a methyl group at the 2nd position and a carbonyl group at the 7th position. This chemical is a planar molecule with a fused ring structure, which contributes to its stability and potential reactivity. Due to its structural similarity to other PAHs, it is likely to exhibit similar properties, such as being insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents. The compound is of interest in chemical research and toxicology, particularly in studies related to environmental pollution and the effects of PAHs on human health.

Check Digit Verification of cas no

The CAS Registry Mumber 82-03-1 includes 5 digits separated into 3 groups by hyphens. The first part of the number, starting from the left, has 2 digits, 8 and 2 respectively; the second part has 2 digits, 0 and 3 respectively.
Calculate Digit Verification of CAS Registry Number 82-03:
(4*8)+(3*2)+(2*0)+(1*3)=41
41 % 10 = 1
So 82-03-1 is a valid CAS Registry Number.

Derivatization of Vinyl Aldehydes with Anthrone Prior to High-Performance Liquid Chromatography with Fluorometric Detection

Miller, Blair E.,Danielson, Neil D.

, p. 622 - 626 (1988)

Precolumn high-performance liquid chromatography derivatization of several vinyl aldehydes, specifically acrolein, crotonaldehyde, and methacrolein, has been studien by use of the reagent anthrone. After selective condensation of these α or β-unsaturated aldehydes to form fluorescent benzanthrone derivatives, separation of these compounds was facile on a 10-cm C-18 column.Although ultraviolet detection was possible, fluorescent detection proved more versatile and sensitive.Four liquor samples were subsequently assayed for acrolein and crotonaldehyde.Linearity for these compounds in alcoholic solutions ranged from 0.02 to at least 14 ppm with detection limits reaching down to 0.005pmm.
