The invention discloses a terpyridyl ligand based multicolor luminescent gel and a preparation method and applications thereof. A terpyridyl ligand is prepared by connected a carbazole electron donating group to terpyridine through amide bonds and has an amide bond structure. The terpyridyl ligand can form gel in a mixed solvent of N,N-dimethyl formamide and ethanol under ultrasonic waves and is capable of being coordinated with different metal ions (zinc or europium) to form gel with different colors depending on the kinds of metals.
