2,4,6-Trinitro-m-cresol ,its cas register number is 602-99-3. It also can be called 2,4,6-Trinitro-3-methylphenol ; 3-Methyl-2,4,6-trinitro-phenol ; and Picric acid, 3-methyl- . 2,4,6-Trinitro-m-cresol (CAS NO.602-99-3) is sensitive to heat, and is a nitroaryl derivative. Nitroaryls range from slight to strong oxidizing agents. If mixed with reducing agents, including hydrides, sulfides and nitrides, they may begin a vigorous reaction that culminates in a detonation. Under prolonged exposure to fire or heat the containers may explode violently.
