 Four Errors of Drinking Milk
  • Four Errors of Drinking Milk
  • Milk has become a kind of essential food in our daily life. Many people drink milk to supplement nutrition for themselves. However, many people are not quite clear about the right ways of drinking milk, which causes the nutrition loss and potential danger. Four errors of drinking milk will be explained here so as to help people avoid such errors in future.

The first error is that many people think the nutrition value of milk will be higher if the milk is rather thick. Thick milk is composed of too much milk powder and little water, the density of which has exceeded the normal standard. Some people think the thick milk can raise the nutrition value and can be very healthy to people. In fact, if young babies drink the thick milk, they are probably to get diarrhea, constipation, inappetence and even food refusal and acute hemorrhagic enteritis. As the internal organs of the babies are rather tender, they can not bear the excessive burdens of food.

The second error is to add rice soup or porridge into milk. Milk contains rich vitamin A. Abundant starch is contained in rice soup and porridge. Lipoxidase contained in starch can destroy vitamin A. if babies always drink the mixture of milk and rice soup, they will never absorb enough vitamin A to accelerate the growth. Therefore, milk and rice soup or porridge should be drunk respectively.

Some people like to drink milk and eat chocolate at the same time. This is just the third error of drinking milk. contained in milk can react with oxalic acid contained in chocolate to produce , a kind of toxic substance. Calcium oxalate can cause many diseases like calcium deficiency, diarrhea, and lithangiuria.

The fourth error to be explained here is to take medicine by milk. Many people think that it must be rather beneficial to take medicine by the high-nutrition drinks. In fact, this opinion is absolutely wrong. Milk can affect the absorption speed of the drugs by the human body and make the density of the drugs in the blood low. In addition, milk can produce a layer of film on the surface of the drugs, which can cause the minerals in milk like calcium and magnesium to react with the drugs. Thus, a kind of water-insoluble substance will be produced to reduce the effect of the drugs and cause potential danger to the human body. Therefore, people should not drink milk before or after one to two hours of taking medicine.
