In the mouse writhing test, racemates (.+-.)-I-2HCl [53361-12-9], (.+-.)-II [53415-20-6], (.+-.)-III-HCl [62904-74-9], and isomers (-)-IV-HCl [53361-72-1] and (-)-I-HCl [62904-73-8] were as potent as meperidine-HCl aand codeine-H2SO4. Relative potencies for these compds. were similar in the rat tail jerk test, and naloxone completely antagonized analgesic activities in the series in both tests. Structure-activity relations are discussed. .
