- Persistence of the herbicides [14C]chlorsulfuron and [14C]metsulfuron methyl in prairie soils under laboratory conditions. Smith, Allan E. (Res. Stn., Agric. Canada, Regina, SK S4P 3A2, Can.). Bull. Environ. Contam. In this article, certain chemicals are used. One of their cas registry numbers is 74223-64-6 Toxicol., 37(5), 698-704 (English) 1986. CODEN: BECTA6. ISSN: 0007-4861. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Section cross-reference(s): 19 The half-life values of metsulfuron methyl [74223-64-6] in clay-loam, sandy-loam, and clay under lab. conditions (without leaching) were 70, 102, and 178 days, resp. 2-Carboxymethylbenzenesulfonamide [27350-05-6] was formed as a transformation product in all of the soils, but esp. in clay-loam, where it represented 32% of the applied radioactivity after 84 days. The half-life of chlorsulfuron [64902-72-3] in clay was 168 days. The degrdn. product 2-chlorobenzenesulfonamide [6961-82-6] was formed, accounting for ~20% of the applied radioactivity after 98 days. .
- Response of bracken (Pteridium aquilinum) in pots to various herbicide treatments
- Response of bracken (Pteridium aquilinum) in pots to various herbicide treatments. West, T. M.; Richardson, W. G. (Weed Res. Organ., AFRC, Yarnton/Oxford OX5 1PF, UK). Tests Agrochem. Cultiv., 6, 108-9 (English) 1985. CODEN: TACUDC. DOCUMENT TYPE: Journal CA Section: 5 (Agrochemical Bioregulators) Asulam [3337-71-1], though causing no visual effects in the year of treatment, reduced bracken (P. aquilinum) frond wt. by 57 and 90% at 1.0 and 2.0 kg/ha while rhizomes were reduced by 40 and 74%. 2008-39-1 and 3337-71-1 are cas registry numbers of chemicals which are used as reagents here. Glyphosate [1071-83-6] at 1.5 kg/ha reduced frond wt. by 53% and rhizomes by 26%. Chlorsulfuron [64902-72-3] reduced vigor initially by about 50% but fronds failed to develop in the following year and most of the rhizome system had rotted (90 to 94% redn.). When chlorsulfuron was mixed with cualine phosphate [107231-49-2] or a no. of other herbicides, rhizomes were eradicated. An additive response with hexazinone [51235-04-2] and chlorsulfuron occurred initially. Triclopyr [55335-06-3], clopyralid [1702-17-6], 2,4-D amine [2008-39-1], propyzamide [23950-58-5] and fosamine [59682-52-9] applied singly were relatively ineffective, although the latter caused deformation of fronds in the year after treatment. .
