Mech. properties of the concretes improved on addn. of the coupling agents. Two methods of silane application, (1) pretreatment of aggregates with silane and (2) direct addn. of silane to the resin, were compared for the effect on interfacial adhesion in Crystic [87501-31-3] polyester resin concrete for the 3 silanes. The effects of silane loading, predrying of aggregates before silane treatment, addn. of CaCO3 microfiller and pH of the silane treatment medium were also studied. I and II were more suitable in the unsatd. polyester/aggregate systems used. Method (1) for silane application in water-MeOH gave better properties than pure aq. medium treatment or method (2). Compressive strengths ￡800-900 kg/cm2 were obtained for the concretes by using the most appropriate aggregate grating, binder content, curing conditions, microfiller content, silane coupler type and method of application of coupling agents. .
