Polyvinyl chloride Specification

The systematic name of Polyvinyl chloride is Chloroethene homopolymer (9CI). With the CAS registry number 9002-86-2, it is also named as Chloroethylene homopolymerise. The product's categories are Polyvinylchloride; Polymers, and the other registry numbers are 11097-91-9; 11111-94-7; 11119-27-0; 117079-84-2; 121870-60-8; 124149-62-8; 139074-74-1; 142804-84-0; 148880-09-5; 155422-17-6; etc. Besides, it is white or light yellow powder, which should be stored in closed, dark, aeration-drying place. It is stable, but incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. In addition, its molecular formula is (C2H3Cl)n. Polyvinyl chloride, commonly abbreviated PVC, is the third-most widely produced plastic, after polyethylene and polypropylene.

Preparation of Polyvinyl chloride: This chemical can be prepared by polymerization of the vinyl chloride monomer (VCM).

The reaction is exothermic, and thus requires a cooling mechanism to maintain the reactor contents at the appropriate temperature.

Uses of Polyvinyl chloride: This chemical is a popular material for window and door frames. It is also used to make vinyl records. Moreover, it is widely used to create a leather-like material and waterproof in clothing. And it is used as the insulation on electric wires. It also can be used to produce pipes for various municipal and industrial applications. Furthermore, it can be used to create voids in the interior of the material. This chemical can form cement that can soften the material to a gel state until the adhesive layer cures. It is an alternative ceiling tiles to install over any flat surface.

When you are using this chemical, please be cautious about it as the following: it is irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. In case of contact with eyes, please rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. And you should wear suitable protective clothing and gloves.

You can still convert the following datas into molecular structure:
