p97 inhibitors
p97 inhibitors are compounds that target the p97 ATPase, also known as valosin-containing protein (VCP). p97 is a highly conserved, ubiquitously expressed ATPase involved in various cellular processes, including protein degradation, membrane fusion, and DNA repair. As an AAA+ ATPase, p97 uses ATP hydrolysis to unfold and extract proteins from complexes or membranes, facilitating their degradation by the proteasome or lysosome. Inhibition of p97 activity disrupts protein homeostasis and cellular functions dependent on p97-mediated processes.
