Preparation of cycloadduct 6e
To a solution of cycloadduct 6g (1.00 g, 2.9 mmol) in 78%
EtOH (50 cm3) was added zinc dust (9.50 g, 50 equiv.) and
calcium chloride (0.230 g, 0.7 equiv.) at ca. 20 ЊC. The mixture
was allowed to reflux for 2 h, the excess zinc metal was removed
by filtration, and the solvent removed under reduced pressure
(30 ЊC, 100 Torr). The desired cycloadduct 6e was purified by
silica-gel chromatography with EtOAc–n-hexane (30%) as the
eluent.
