Reaction of Na(C5H5)Fe(CO)2 with (C6H5)P(Cl){N[Si(CH3)3]2} in THF results in the formation of a metallophosphane complex (C5H5)Fe(CO)2[P(C6H 5){N[Si(CH3)3]2}]. This complex combines readily with CF3C≡ CCF3, and a compound of composition (C5H5)Fe(CO)2[P(C6H 5){N[Si(CH3)3]2}](CF 3C≡CCF3) is isolated. The structure of the compound has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques and found to contain a ferraphosphacyclopentenone unit: (C5H5)(CO)FeC(O)C(CF3)=C(CF 3)P(C6H5){N[Si(CH3) 3]2}.
