α-CF3S-substituted β-ketoacidamides, nitriles, thioamides and their Schiff bases are synthesised and their reactions with oxalyl chloride are investigated.As a new phenomenon the elimination of the CF3S group during cyclisation to substituted 2,3,5-trioxo-1,4-oxazepine (7), 4-pyrroline-2,3-dione (9) and oxalyl (10) is observed.Factors influencing this course of the reaction and mechanism of product formation are discussed.
