We report the EPC synthesis of octahydrophenanthridine-hydrochlorides 4 from optically active 2-arylcyclohexanamines 1 a) using Pictet-Spengler reaction conditions and b) via the corresponding formamides 2 and hexahydrophenanthridines 3.
