2-Phenoxy-2-oxo-4-pivaloyloxy-1,3,2-dioxophosphorinane (1) was prepared as a stable, neutral precursor of phenyl phosphate. In the presence of 20% human plasma, 1 was converted quantitatively to phenyl phosphate with a half-life of 15 min.
