S,S-Dialkyl-O-trimethylsilyl dithiophosphites (III)-(VI) have been obtained by reacting dialkyl dithiochlorophosphites with bis(trimethylsilyl)acetamide.Compounds (III)-(VI) react with aldehydes in the presence of catalytic amounts of tertiary amines to give S,S-dialkyl-1-trimethylsilyloxyalkyldithiophosphonates (VII)-(IX) and (XII).Hydrolysis of (III) and (V) affords dialkyl dithiophosphites (XVI) and (XVII), which readily add to azomethines and chloral.
