A Facile One-Pot Synthesis of 3-Dialkoxyphosphoryl- and 3--1-hydroxyindoles

The one-pot reaction of dialkyl phosphites or alkyl phenylphosphonites with equimolecular amounts of 1-aryl-2-nitro-1-alkenes in an alcohol in the presence of solid potassium carbonate give the title compounds, i.e., 1-hydroxyindole-3-phosphonic or -3-phosphinic esters, respectively, in 57-88 percent yield.
