Nitriles are obtained from reaction of acyltrimethylsilane phenylhydrazones with phosphorus trichloride, whereas under the same experimental conditions triphenylsilyl derivatives decompose and t-butyldimethylsilyl derivatives do not react. Evidences of the reaction pathway are reported.
