Dried leaves of Schefflera octophylla afforded a new sulphated triterpene glycoside.From spectroscopic data and chemical transformations the structure of the new constituent was determined as 3-epi-betulinic acid 3-O-sulphate 28-O-<α-L-rhamnopyranosyl(1->4)-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->6)>-β-D-glucopyranoside.Key Word Index - Schefflera octophylla; Araliaceae; lupane glycoside 3-O-sulphate.
