Intramolecular tertiary phosphine exchange mechanisms in the compounds 1,2- and 1,2,3-L2> (L = PMe2Ph or PPh3> have been studied by 31P and 13C NMR methods.The 13CO NMR results rule out a mechanism involving bridging carbonyl forms in favour of one involving axial-equatorial CO exchange at the same rate as phosphine exchange.
