The predominant sesquiterpene lactones from the flowers of Arnica Chamissonis Less. subsp. genuina Maguire, which are used for medical purposes, were isolated.They are shown to be new compounds of the pseudoguaianolide type, which are named Chamissonolide (1) and 6-Desoxychamissonolide (2).Their structure has been established by UV, IR, MS, (1)H-NMR and (13)C-NMR.
