A traceless linker was developed on a soluble polymer support. The methodology allows for the facile attachment of molecules possessing an alkyl halide appendage. The coupled molecule can be further functionalized before subsequent cleavage via a two-step oxidation-reduction sequence. This sequence allows for the synthesis of molecules containing no trace of the linker and the formation of a new C-H bond.
