The reactions of isatin-β-phenylhydrazone 1 and benzil monophenylhydrazone 2 with some ester-3a,b and keto ylides 3c were studied in details. under different experimental conditions with the aim of evaluating the synthetic potential of this approach for the synthesis of N-heterocyclic systems. Structures of the new compounds were established on the basis of elemental and spectroscopic analyses.
