STEROIDAL SAPONINS FROM DIURANTHERA MAJOR

In addition to chloromaloside A, three new steroidal saponins, diuranthosides A-C, were isolated from the fresh roots of Diuranthera major.On the basis of chemical and spectroscopic analysis, the structures of diuranthosides A-C were established as neotigogenin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->2)-<β-D-xylopyranosyl(1->3)>-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->4)-β-D-galactopyranoside, neohecogenin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->3)-β-D-xylopyranosyl(1->3)-<β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->2)>-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->4)-β-D-galactopyranoside and neohecogenin 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->2)-<β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->3)-β-D-xylopyranosyl(1->3)>-β-D-glucopyranosyl(1->4)-β-D-galactopyranoside, respectively.
