Calorimetric data on the two nematogenic homologous series trans-l-ethoxy-4'-ω-cyclohexyl-n-alkanoyl- and trans-4-ethox-4'-ω-phenyl-n-alkanoyloxyazobenzenes from acetate to butyrate are presented.Trends in the nematic-isotropic transition temperatures, enthalpies, and entropies are briefly discussed and rationalized in terms of the conformational flexibility of the compounds.
