Spectinomycin chemistry II. The synthesis of 6′-substituted spectinomycin analogs

′-Hydroxyspectinomycin is made from known materials in five steps. This chemistry gives access for modification at the C-4′ and C-6′ positions; the syntheses of 6′-bromospectinomycin and 6′-chlorospectinomycin are also described.
