Reaction of 4-hydroxy-2-quinolone with geranyl chloride gave the geranyl ether (5a), the C-geranyl derivatives (6) and (7), and the vinylhexenyl derivative (8).The geranyl ether was converted into bucharaine (1) by selective hydroxylation and via mono-epoxydation.
