Syntheses of N-Substituted 3,3,4-Triaryl- and 3,3,4,4-Tetraphenyl-2-azetidinones

The reactions of 2-diazo-1,2-diphenylethanone with Schiff's bases Ar-CH=N-R gave new substituted 2-azetidinones together with 1,1',4,4'-tetraphenyl-2,2'-azinodiethanone. 2-Diazo-1,2-diphenylethanone reacts with N-benzhydrylidene-N'-phenylurea to give 1-(phenylcarbamoyl)-3,3,4,4-tetraphenyl-2-azetidinone.
