The tridentate ligand PhAs(CH2CH2AsMe2)2 (tasp) reacts with , 2 (cod = 1,5-cyclooctadiene), or 2 to give the square-planar complex .Under similar conditions the bidentate ligand, PhMeAsCH2CH2AsMePh (dase) affords the five coordinate compound on reaction with .In solution forms the stable adducts and with O2 and SO2 respectively, and reacts with CO to give which partially dissociates to Cl in methanol forming BPh4 on reaction with NaBPh4.The oxygen adduct reacts with SO2 to give the sulphato complex , and with CO to produce the carbonato complex .Both and react with the esters MeO3SF and RO3SCF3 to give the compounds X (R=Me, X=O3SF; R=Me, Et, X=O3SCF3) and O3SCF3, which are redily converted to the corresponding tetraphenylborate derivatives.
