An efficient method for accerelation of the intramolecular ene reactions is established.The magnesium salts of N-(3-methyl-2-butenyl)-N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)acrylamides afford the corresponding cyclized products in high yields with the predominant formation of δ-lactams.
