Syntheses and reactions of molybdenum(0)- and molybdenum(II)-carbonyl plexes with polydentate thiolato, thioether-thiolato as well as thioether ligand reported.Reactions of Mo(CO)4Cl2 with o-methylthiobenzenethiol, CH3SC6H and 2,3,8,9-dibenzo-1,4,7,10-tetrathiadecane (dttd-H2) give and , respectively, which possess labile M bonds.At room temperature is obtained from or (dp Ph2PC2H4PPh2) however, cannot be obtained.Mo(CO)6 and CH3SC6H4S^{- -}; further CO substitution is not possible.Even the r tive carbonylation of with CO/Na y ^- only, but no Mo(CO)2-complex.Depending on the tion conditions.Mo(CO)6 and o-benzenedithiolate, C6H4S2^2-, yield ^2- or ^4- or a mixture of two of respectively.The thioether CH3C(CH2SCH3)3 and 3,4,9,10-dibenzo-2,5,8,11- thiadodecane, dttdd, yield on reaction with Mo(CO)6 >, (n=3, 4), and , respectively; in these complexes pa one thioether group is not ligating.The same must be true for as well as are incomplete and reversibly solv on dissolving especially in strongly solvents like DMSO or CH3CN irradiation of all complexes leads mainly to decomposition and formatio insoluble products, which could not be characterized.
