The synthesis of N-homopiperonyl-N-dialkylphosphorylglycine and a number of its analogues, and their intramolecular Lewis acid catalyzed Friedel-Crafts acylation to the stable N-dialkylphosphoryl tetrahydro-3-benzazepin-1-ones, is described.
