3-Hydroxy-1-thiochromone (3a) reacts with formaldehyde and amines to yield the title compounds 5a-5h.Heating of 5a results in the formation of the spiro compound 9.Addition of the enamines 11 or 12 leads to the pyranothiochromones 15a or 14.
