Oxidation of 1,4-dimethoxy-9-benzylthiotripticene with mCPBA or hydrogen peroxide to the corresponding sulfone and subsequent chromatography on silica gel yielded two stable rotamers about the S-C(9) single bond.Kinetic parameters for their interconversion as well as their spectroscopic data have been also presented.
