Solid crystalline Rb and Cs salts with the composition M⁺2(NH3)(naphthalene^-.)2 have been generated and are found to hold the ammonia molecule endothermically, and similar salts involving alkaline earth metals or alkali metals with other anion radicals detonate upon crystallization due to the exothermic release of ammonia.
