Phase transfer catalyzed synthesis of 1-aryloxyacetyl-2-substituted- benzimidazole derivatives

The title compounds (3) were prepared in good to excellent yield via the reaction of aryloxyacetyl chloride with 2-substituted benzimidazole (2) under the condition of solid-liquid phase transfer catalysis using polyethylene glycol-400 as the catalyst.
