is added to the reaction system to eliminate the holes,
the conversion of benzyl alcohol and yield of benzalde-
hyde decrease significantly, suggesting that the photo-
generated holes are the major oxidation species for the
selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde.
Meanwhile, it appears a slight improvement in the con-
version of nitrobenzene and yield of aniline. The addi-
tion of electron scavenger (tetrachloromethane) can

However, the conversion of nitrobenzene and the yield
of aniline apparently reduce. Based on the result, it is
demonstrated that the photogenerated holes play a sig-
nificant role in oxidation of benzyl alcohol, and the
photoexcited electrons are the main active species for
reduction of nitrobenzene under visible light irradiation.
