The room temperature rate constant for the reaction Cl + ClNO -> Cl2 + NO has been measured by the method of discharge flow mass spectometry.The rate constant was determined from the decay of ClNO in the presence of an excess of Cl atoms at a total pressure of 1 Torr.The rate constant obtained was (7.6 +/- 0.8)E-11 cm3s-1.This result is compared with previous determinations, the values of which ranged by more than an order of magnitude and all of which depended on knowledge of the absolute concentration of ClNO.We suggest that the lack of agreement is attributable principally to uncertainties in
