A new diterpenic methylenquinone, 15-deoxyfuerstione, was isolated from the root of Salvia moorcraftiana.The structure of this natural compound was established by chemical and spectroscopic means to be 11-hydroxy-5,7,9(11),13-abietatetraen-12-one.The previously known diterpenoids 7α-acetoxyroyleanone and taxodione were also found in the same source.Key Word Index - Salvia mmoorcraftiana; Labiatae; diterpenoids; abietane derivatives; 15-deoxyfuerstione; 7α-acetoxyroyleanone; taxodione.
