nature of the radical generation from 12a over 12b. These
results and analyses together provide new principles for
designing three-dimensional structures for efficient radical
reactions beyond this work. Overall, the powerful radical
dimerization strategy demonstrated here has broad applications
for the total syntheses of not only various bioactive acetogenins,
but also diverse complex natural products and pharmaceuticals
with local C2-symmetic structures.
