In conclusion, we have disclosed a new procedure for
obtaining primary amides from the corresponding carboxylic
acids via acyl isocyanate intermediates using Mukaiyama
reagent/KNCO in aqueous acetonitrile. Among the attractive
features of this protocol, the use of inexpensive and com-
mercially available reagent, simplicity, easy workup, and
efficiency are to be appreciated.
